1. Install and find your way around

This is a practical guide to FileFapper v1.0 for Windows x64. Follow the first-download walkthrough to get started, then use the later chapters when you need collections, logins, browser tools or site scripts.

About the pictures: every screenshot is captured from the packaged v1.0 x64 interface in a separate demonstration profile. The galleries are FileFapper’s non-explicit local samples. No personal cookies, saved logins, history or real gallery collection was used.

Choose a download

FileWhat to doChoose it when…
Windows x64 EXERun the portable launcher. You want to open FileFapper without an installer.
Windows x64 ZIPExtract the ZIP first, then run FileFapper.exe inside it.You want the portable app and its accompanying documents in one download.
Windows x64 MSIOpen the installer and follow its choices. You prefer an installed application and Windows shortcuts.

The x64 edition requires 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. The browser and downloader are included; running the release does not require a separate Chrome, Edge, Python or Node.js installation. Use the x86 edition only if you specifically need 32-bit Windows support. These release packages are unsigned.

Open the app and check that the sidebar shows v1.0. The main workspaces are Download queue, Discover & search, Browser, Sites & scripts, Cookies & accounts and Preferences. A compact sidebar displays icons with tooltips instead of full labels.

Before your first gallery

  1. Open Preferences and choose your download folder.
  2. Start with a modest worker count and the normal request delay. Increase concurrency only after checking how the source behaves.
  3. Decide whether new tasks should start automatically. Turn this off if you prefer to review the queue first.
  4. If a source needs an account, prepare its session under Cookies & accounts before starting downloads.

FileFapper automatically saves its working queue and preferences. The application profile lives separately from the EXE or ZIP, under %APPDATA%\D&F. The legacy folder name is intentional. Reopening an app on a computer with an existing profile can restore previous data; a clean release package does not contain that personal profile.

2. Add your first download

  1. Copy an individual work’s address. Prefer a gallery, chapter, artwork or post URL. A homepage, series cover or search page can require a different collection workflow.
  2. Open Download queue. Paste the address into the large URL field. For several works, put one complete URL on each line.
  3. Choose file quality. Resampled/site-default is the ordinary choice. Original files is meaningful for E-Hentai and ExHentai when your account is allowed to retrieve originals.
  4. Choose workers and delay. Workers control file transfers within each task. Delay spaces requests; it is separate from the number of simultaneous galleries.
  5. Select Add downloads or press Ctrl + Enter. With auto-start enabled, work begins when a task slot is available; otherwise the new tasks wait for you to start them.
  6. Check the result. A completed task should have a sensible file count. Open its preview and compare it with the source, especially after rendered-page capture.
One URL per line, with quality, worker and delay controls. These URL shapes are examples, not submitted downloads. Click to enlarge

The addresses shown in this screenshot illustrate URL shapes. They were not submitted as real downloads. Replace an example address with the actual link you want to use.

What happens after Add downloads?

A task first resolves the source to discover its title and media. It then downloads files while reporting progress. A video or an archive counts as one file, so file totals are not necessarily page totals. Already completed files can be checked when a task resumes.

A listing is different from a gallery. If you paste a supported search/listing URL, FileFapper can direct you to Browser for review. Use Queue galleries to collect individual results. Do not assume that entering a site’s homepage means “download everything on this site.”

A repeatable checklist

For each new site, try a small individual work first. Confirm the quality, filenames, destination, page count and access session. Once those look right, move on to larger collections. An installed site profile identifies an integration; the site can still change or refuse a request.

3. Read, filter and select the queue

The queue is your working list, not just a log of completed downloads. Use its status tabs, text filter and site selector together to narrow a large list. The text filter can match titles, URLs and available tags. Switching list/icon view changes the presentation without creating new tasks.

StatusMeaningUseful next step
QueuedWaiting for a task slot or for you to start it.Reorder it, review settings, or resume it.
ResolvingReading gallery information and discovering media.Allow it to finish, or pause/stop if you need to interrupt.
DownloadingTransferring the discovered files.Watch the file count and transfer speed.
PausedWork is suspended while saved files remain.Resume when ready.
StoppedThe task has been stopped and will need to be started again.Review its settings and resume when appropriate.
WaitingA source cooldown or scheduled retry is in effect.Read the message; extra workers will not remove a server restriction.
CompletedThe task finished its current file list.Preview or open its downloaded files.
Failed / errorThe task could not finish.Read the error and use the troubleshooting chapter before restarting.

Select more than one task

  1. Use the row checkboxes, or enable Select mode.
  2. Use Ctrl-click to build a selection and Shift-click for a range.
  3. With focus outside a text box, Ctrl + A selects tasks in the current filtered view.
  4. Use the bulk-action bar to resume, pause, stop or remove the selected entries.
Two selected tasks and the bulk-action bar. Click to enlarge

Drag a task to change its order, or use its right-click movement actions. Reordering queued tasks changes which work is considered next; it does not rearrange already saved pages.

Details toggles the selected-gallery side panel. Turn it off when you want a wider queue. Hide thumbnails reduces visible cover art while full previews remain available. If you are using the artwork template, queue width is also controlled by its separate Queue room setting.

4. Pause, stop, restart and remove safely

Choose the action that matches your intention. Keeping a task in the queue, keeping its files and keeping it running are separate decisions.

ActionWhat it does
Pause / ResumeSuspends and continues work while retaining completed files and usable partial transfers.
StopStops the task while retaining its downloaded files.
Pause allPauses the active and queued work together.
Stop allStops active, queued and paused tasks together.
RestartStarts the task again. Review the choice before using it on a large completed gallery.
Remove from listRemoves the queue entry while leaving downloaded files on disk.
Clear completedRemoves completed entries from the list.
Clear allStops and removes all queue entries while keeping downloaded files.
Delete folderAsks for confirmation before sending the chosen gallery’s files to the Recycle Bin.

The task’s right-click menu

Use it for preview, resume/pause, stop, restart, reordering, copying the gallery link, showing the work in FileFapper Browser or an external browser, opening the first file, opening its folder, moving it and viewing metadata. Available actions depend on the task state. Moving or deleting a gallery requires the task to be idle.

New downloads can share one site-and-date folder. FileFapper tracks each gallery’s files separately, so its gallery move/delete action is scoped to the chosen task. Deleting the entire shared folder manually in File Explorer would affect everything in that folder.

When an interruption is deliberate: choose Pause or Stop and let the queue show that state before closing the app. Resume-on-launch is optional; manually paused tasks remain paused. Changing a task’s quality or enlargement settings can require its output to be generated again so different representations are not mixed.

5. Find files and use the preview

New downloads are grouped by site name and download date. Source filenames are retained with a gallery identifier and task suffix to avoid collisions. If no site gallery identifier can be recognized, a task identifier is used. Do not expect every site to provide descriptive original filenames.

Each task keeps metadata under a .filefapper directory in the shared folder. Existing galleries created with another folder layout retain that layout. Use Open folder from the task when you are unsure where its files were saved.

Preview workflow

  1. Double-click a downloaded task, or choose its Preview action.
  2. Move between files using the preview controls. Check the first, middle and last pages when validating a reader capture.
  3. For supported audio/video, use the playback and seeking controls.
  4. For a format that does not play in the app, choose Open file to use your Windows application.
  5. Close the preview to return to the queue; the preview does not remove the task.
MediaTypical supported formats and behavior
ImagesJPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF and BMP. Animations can be previewed when supported.
VideoExamples include MP4 and WebM; in-app playback depends on Chromium’s codecs.
AudioExamples include MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG and FLAC; use an external player if needed.
Archives and documentsSupported attachments can include ZIP/CBZ, RAR/CBR, 7z, PDF and other recognized types. Archives stay intact and are not automatically unpacked or run.

Mixed-media availability depends on the adapter and source. Pawchive/Kemono posts can expose attachments that a simple image-gallery reader does not. Transfer validation checks payloads and partial responses; it is not a malware scan of archive contents.

6. Set speed, delay, repair and enlargement

Download preferences: folder, workers, quality, delay and enlargement settings. Click to enlarge

FileFapper has several independent controls. Their values should make sense together.

ControlRange or behaviorWhat it changes
Workers1–50 per taskConcurrent file transfers inside a gallery.
Simultaneous galleries1–5 tasksHow many galleries can run at once.
Minimum request interval0.2–30 secondsThe minimum spacing between requests.
Speed capPer-gallery transfer cap; zero disables the local capLimits local transfer speed rather than changing source access.

For example, several active galleries with many workers can create far more work than a single gallery with a small worker count. Start conservatively, observe errors and response times, then adjust. A delay is not a scheduled start time. Higher concurrency does not reset site quotas or bypass account restrictions.

Original, 1.5× and 2× images

Kemono enlargement is optional. Original size keeps the server image as supplied. The local waifu2x CUnet option is intended for illustrations and can use a compatible GPU with a CPU fallback; Lanczos provides ordinary resizing. At 1.5×, the model’s larger output is reduced to the requested scale.

  1. Keep a small comparison task before enlarging a large collection.
  2. Leave cleanup Off for clean source artwork; gentle cleanup can reduce noise but also smooth texture.
  3. Compare Server original and Enlarged in preview at actual pixel size.
  4. If the result is worse, choose Original size. More pixels do not guarantee more faithful detail.

Source files are retained for enlargement. Animated media, audio, video and archives are not treated as ordinary still images by this option. Large conversions can exceed memory or image-size limits.

JMComic repair and E/Ex options

JMComic strip restoration reconstructs supported scrambled page layouts from the available gallery metadata. Leave it enabled for those pages; a changed scrambling algorithm can require an adapter update. E/Ex fast resolution and local cooldown options are separate preferences. They alter pacing or bounded retry behavior; they do not grant access, remove quotas or solve verification pages.

7. Use the built-in browser

The website browser uses Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF). Electron draws FileFapper’s surrounding interface. FileFapper’s browser profile is separate from the profile in your ordinary Chrome, Edge or Firefox installation.

The browser workspace and quick-site controls. No real website is opened in this demonstration. Click to enlarge
  1. Open Browser from the sidebar.
  2. Enter an address in the address bar, or use one of the quick-site buttons. Search words in the address bar can open a web search.
  3. Use Back, Forward and Reload as needed. Selecting an existing loaded tab keeps its page; restored tabs can load when first selected.
  4. Use Queue URL for an individual work, Queue galleries on a supported listing, or Queue rendered pages for an appropriate loaded reader.
  5. Choose Open externally when you want to open the current address in your regular browser.

Manage many tabs

FileFapper supports up to 100 open tabs. The numbered down-arrow menu lists all open tabs, including ones outside the visible strip. The active title is underlined. < and > move along the strip by one tab; << and >> move five. Right-click for duplication, sorting by title/domain/date accessed, and closing tabs to the left or right.

Use Expand when you want more browsing space. This changes workspace room, not the site’s own zoom. The browser is initialized when used, so the first visit can take longer than switching back to an existing tab.

Separate sessions matter. Being signed in inside your regular browser does not automatically sign you into FileFapper. Import current cookies or sign in within FileFapper when needed. Personal browser extensions and password-manager data are not automatically installed in the embedded browser.

The browser screenshot shows the empty demonstration workspace. No website verification or authenticated gallery download is implied by it.

8. Collect a search, category or date range

Collection finds individual works from a supported listing, lets you review them, and then adds selected entries as separate queue tasks. This is different from downloading every image currently visible on a search page.

  1. Open the source listing in Browser. Finish any site sign-in or verification first. Wait for the results you need to load.
  2. Select Queue galleries. On an individual work the action can instead say Queue URL.
  3. Set the scan bounds. Additional result pages controls how far beyond the starting page to scan. Maximum collected galleries limits matches in this batch.
  4. Optionally enter Posted from and Posted through. Both endpoint dates are included. Leave one endpoint blank for an open-ended range, or clear both to include undated entries too.
  5. Collect results. Watch the progress, page count, errors and undated count. A date range filters the scanned batch; it does not automatically search a whole site’s history.
  6. Review and select. Filter the review list and check the works you want. Existing queue URLs are skipped where recognized.
  7. Add downloads. Each selected result becomes a task using the relevant queue defaults. Auto-start determines whether those tasks begin immediately.
  8. Continue if needed. Use Open next batch when offered, then collect again from the continuation page.
Collection boundLimit
Additional result pages0–199, for at most 200 total pages per batch
Collected matchesUp to 5,000 per batch
Queue capacityUp to 10,000 tasks

Date filtering is available on supported E/ExHentai, Danbooru/AIBooru, booru listing and Pawchive/Kemono creator workflows. Dates follow the site’s posted date; they are not automatically converted to your Windows time zone. A source without a usable date contributes an undated entry and is excluded while a date bound is active.

E/Ex category selection

Category inclusion picker for E-Hentai and ExHentai. Click to enlarge

Choose E/Ex categories, select E-Hentai or ExHentai, include the categories you want, and optionally enter a query. An empty query browses those categories without a text term. Select all ten categories for the broadest results available to your account. The app calculates the site’s numeric exclusion filter; you do not have to construct that number yourself.

Category selection determines which results are visible. It does not guarantee that an entire category fits in one collection batch. Continue batches and review their results. Closing the collection review, stopping the scan or navigating away can cancel collection while retaining links already found.

9. Capture pages from an interactive reader

Some readers expose a complete gallery manifest to the downloader. Others need help from the browser because their pages are loaded dynamically. Queue rendered pages is the fallback for supported loaded readers.

  1. Open an individual chapter, not a site home page, a search grid or a series cover.
  2. Finish sign-in or verification on the site if requested.
  3. Select the site’s long-strip or all-pages reading mode when available.
  4. Allow its page images or readable canvases to load. Scroll through enough of the chapter to confirm that its content is present.
  5. Choose Queue rendered pages.
  6. Review the captured count and preview before accepting a large result. Compare the first and last pages with the chapter.
Capture has boundaries. It can collect supported loaded images, readable canvases and certain media links. It cannot reveal chapters that never loaded, decrypt every reader, read every cross-origin canvas or complete a site’s verification. The limit is 2,000 entries and 100 MB of canvas data per capture.

A result grid’s small thumbnails are not a substitute for a chapter’s full-size pages. If the capture contains covers, advertisements or only a few pages, stop and choose the actual reader. A virtualized reader can discard off-screen pages; it may need a dedicated adapter instead of generic capture.

If direct extraction works, prefer the gallery/chapter URL. For a changed reader, check the site notes or use a reviewed script update. Browser availability and downloader access can differ even with the same account.

10. Search and reuse saved tags

Discover & search before any website query is submitted. Click to enlarge

Discover & search can show a filterable first results page for supported simple HTML searches. Other profiles open the site’s interactive search in Browser. Choose the profile, enter a title, artist or tags, and review the results before queueing selected works.

Searching inside FileFapper, filtering an already collected result list, and using the site’s own search controls are separate operations. Changing the local filter does not issue a new site search. Some search shortcuts only take you to the site’s starting page; complete the query in the site’s own interface when required.

Save Kurosearch and R34 React searches

Browser tools — tags. Fields shown are demonstration values. Click to enlarge
  1. Open the supported site’s search page in Browser.
  2. Open Saved tags. Choose Kurosearch or R34 React.
  3. Use Read current tags, or enter tags yourself.
  4. Give the search a recognizable name, then select Save tags.
  5. Later, choose Apply search to restore individual tag chips and start the site search.
  6. Use Edit to update an entry or Remove to discard it.

Use spaces or semicolons between tags, and underscores or quotes within a tag containing spaces. Supported standard forms include tag, -excluded_tag and ~optional_tag. Grouped boolean expressions may need to be entered directly on the site. Up to 200 searches can be saved, with up to 80 tags per application.

The screenshot’s landscape -animated text is a harmless form example. It was not applied to a live site. Saved tag searches are included in a full FileFapper session export; a tab-only export contains URLs rather than this search library.

11. Bring your own cookies and account access

Empty Cookies & accounts screen. No cookie or credential values were used. Click to enlarge

FileFapper can use a session you establish in its browser or cookies exported from another browser. A saved username/password and an authenticated site cookie have different jobs: credentials can fill a sign-in form, while cookies identify the resulting session.

Import a cookie export

  1. Use a browser extension that exports a Netscape cookies.txt file or a compatible JSON cookie list for the site you need.
  2. Open Cookies & accounts.
  3. Select Import .txt or .json, or paste the export into the text box and choose Import pasted cookies.
  4. Review stored, browser-accepted and browser-rejected counts. Check that the domain matches the actual host you are using.
  5. Open or reload that host in FileFapper Browser. Confirm that the relevant page is readable for your account.
  6. Sync cookies if needed, then resume the affected task. For an access pause, use Sync & resume after access is restored.

Sign in inside FileFapper

Open the site’s actual HTTPS sign-in page and use its normal controls. Saved site logins can fill a form for the exact saved origin; you still use the site’s Sign in control and complete any CAPTCHA or two-factor check yourself. Saving a password does not itself prove that the site has accepted the account.

Cookie values and saved credentials use separate Windows-encrypted storage. They are excluded from ordinary task/session exports. Imported site scripts remain trusted code and can access cookies for their declared site, so review a script before enabling it.

Keep exports private. A cookie file can represent a signed-in session. Do not attach cookie exports, credentials or service keys to GitHub issues, tutorial screenshots or shared sessions. All account and cookie lists in these tutorial captures are empty.

If access still fails

Confirm the exact host, expiry and scope of the cookie export. Sign in again if the site has expired the session. Try the site compatibility option if a page helper interferes. A browser that opens a page and a worker that downloads its media can receive different responses; cookies do not guarantee either one will be accepted.

12. E-Hentai and ExHentai originals

  1. Choose the host you actually intend to use.
  2. Prepare its authorized session. E/Ex commonly uses ipb_member_id and ipb_pass_hash; ExHentai can also require igneous.
  3. Use the category picker and optional query to reach the desired results, or open an individual gallery.
  4. Before adding a task, select Original files or Resampled.
  5. For a listing, collect and review individual galleries before adding them.
  6. Check task errors and account limits before increasing concurrency.

Originals require the appropriate account access and can consume image points. Resampled uses the displayed representation. Missing originals are reported; do not assume the task silently substituted another quality. Changing the quality of an existing task can invalidate previous completed-file settings so different versions are not combined.

Expired or failed image-host links can trigger bounded source refreshes. Those reloads may count against site image hits. A persistent account, quota or access error requires attention; restarting repeatedly or adding workers is not a substitute for resolving it.

About “faster” options: Faster gallery resolution and skipping the app’s automatic cooldown wait are optional pacing/retry behaviors. They do not grant credentials, reset site limits or defeat verification. Start with the conservative defaults, read the source’s response, and use only access available to your account.

For all categories, select all ten checkboxes in the picker, leave the text query empty if desired, and collect batches. “All categories” describes the search filter; it does not mean a single batch reaches every gallery in the site’s history.

13. Pixiv, ppixiv and ugoira

Browser tools — plugins. Fields shown are demonstration values. Click to enlarge

FileFapper includes a pinned official ppixiv viewer for Pixiv browsing. Open Pixiv in Browser and sign in when Pixiv requires it. In Browser tools → Plugins, ppixiv can be enabled or disabled independently of other helpers.

  1. Use ppixiv’s own controls to browse artwork and manga, zoom, seek animations and manage the interactions Pixiv permits for your account.
  2. If the viewer is incomplete, use Reload ppixiv or Original Pixiv view.
  3. Use Hide ppixiv bar / Show ppixiv bar to control ppixiv’s own on-page toolbar.
  4. For queue downloads, use a supported /artworks/ID URL, or a bounded /users/ID creator task.

ppixiv’s endless browsing is separate from FileFapper’s generic infinite scroll. FileFapper does not append its own result pages into ppixiv’s viewer. ppixiv also retains its own artwork context menu.

Animated ugoira

A supported ugoira download retains its original frame ZIP and frame timing JSON. FileFapper can produce an animated WebP for preview when conversion succeeds. The ZIP and timing data remain useful if conversion is too large or cannot finish. These animation outputs are separate from ppixiv’s own browser download features.

The viewer’s media bridge has a per-request limit and a restricted set of Pixiv image hosts. For a large work, use the FileFapper queue. Optional ppixiv services outside that bridge may not work through it; viewer startup alone does not prove every remote feature or account permission is available.

14. Infinite scroll, Force mode and columns

Browser tools — scrolling. Fields shown are demonstration values. Click to enlarge
FeatureWhat it doesWhat it does not do
Infinite scrollAppends supported linked result pages into the current page.It does not add every displayed result to your download queue.
Force modeTries common numbered links, page/offset patterns or Load more controls when normal pagination is missing. It cannot manufacture a next page or solve an access challenge.
Auto-scrollMoves the page automatically, which can also trigger a site’s own lazy loading. It does not itself extract a whole gallery or override the next-page request interval.
  1. Open a supported results page and enable Infinite scroll.
  2. Open Browser tools → Scrolling to choose defaults and limits.
  3. Set auto-scroll speed between 20 and 2000 pixels per second.
  4. Choose the minimum interval between next-page requests and the maximum extra pages.
  5. For FileFapper-appended booru results, select 1–5 image columns. This affects appended results rather than rewriting the source’s first page.
  6. Use Load next page now / retry to inspect a failed continuation after resolving its cause.

Dedicated rules exist for supported Rule34 and E/ExHentai listings. Filters and exclusions are retained where supported. E/Ex requests use at least three seconds between result-page requests. Repeated results, the end of results and access pages can stop the operation.

For AIBooru, appended posts respect the site’s blacklist initialization. If that initialization fails, loading can stop instead of exposing unfiltered posts. Check the browser status, retry after the page finishes initializing, or use the site’s own pagination.

On a site with native infinite loading or a virtualized layout, the site can control its own columns. A page with no accessible pagination may need an adapter update. Auto-scroll pauses when the relevant view is hidden or a dialog opens.

15. Translate a page and adjust protection

Browser tools — translation. Fields shown are demonstration values. Click to enlarge

In-page translation

  1. Open Browser tools → Translation.
  2. Choose a provider and target language. Microsoft’s no-key text service is the default; optional DeepL, Azure and LibreTranslate configurations are available.
  3. Save the settings, then choose Translate for the current page.
  4. Use Restore original text when you want the source text back.

Translation sends eligible page text to the provider after you request it. Editable inputs, passwords and code-like excluded content are not ordinary translation targets. Optional continuous mode can handle newly inserted text and supported frames. This is text translation, not OCR or translation of lettering baked into gallery images.

The no-key service is best effort and may be rate-limited. For a keyed service, use its own valid key, correct plan/region and an endpoint you trust. Keys are stored separately with Windows encryption and are excluded from ordinary session exports.

Ad and tracker filtering

Use Shield or Browser tools → Ad blocking to control the bundled EasyList/EasyPrivacy filters, cosmetic hiding, automatic popups, site exceptions and custom filter rules. Reload after changing cosmetic settings so the page can be laid out again.

If a site’s reader breaks, test a narrowly scoped site exception or the compatibility option before changing global settings. Restore the normal helpers afterward. Updating a filter list is a separate action from reloading a page; the bundled lists can be used without an immediate update.

Scroll inside a dialog when needed. Browser tools contains long settings pages. If Save or another action is below the visible area, scroll the dialog rather than assuming the control is missing.

16. Save sessions, back up and move computers

Browser tools — sessions. Fields shown are demonstration values. Click to enlarge

FileFapper has two useful kinds of session. Choose the one that matches what you want to preserve.

KindWhereWhat it is for
Full FileFapper sessionSave session / Load session in the appQueue entries, preferences, paths, searches and relevant browser state/settings.
Named tab sessionBrowser tools → Tab sessionsA named set of browsing URLs that can be restored later.

Full session backup

  1. Use Save session and choose a JSON filename you can recognize.
  2. Keep the export with your own backups. Cookies, saved passwords, service keys, site scripts and media are excluded.
  3. To restore, choose Load session and review the import summary.
  4. Importing replaces the working queue after pausing work; imported tasks start paused. Review paths and settings before resuming.

Named tab sets

Use a descriptive name and Save current tabs. Up to 50 named sessions with 100 URLs each can be kept. Restore can append to existing tabs or replace them. If appending would exceed 100 open tabs, close some tabs or choose replacement. Restoring URLs does not transfer login cookies.

Moving to another PC

  1. Copy the downloaded media separately.
  2. Export and copy the appropriate session JSON.
  3. Install or open FileFapper on the new machine and import the session.
  4. Review destination paths; a folder from the old PC may not exist on the new one.
  5. Install reviewed site scripts separately and re-establish needed site access by signing in or importing a current cookie export.
A session export is not anonymous. Although credentials are excluded, a full export can contain gallery titles, URLs, local paths, tab information and browsing history. Review it before sharing. A clean app download and your personal session backup are different things.

Normal working state auto-saves under %APPDATA%\D&F. Keep a separate backup before major changes. Copying an encrypted vault to another computer is not a substitute for establishing a valid session there.

17. Choose a theme and arrange artwork

Appearance picker with the active theme. Click to enlarge

Open Preferences or use the sidebar theme dots to select a theme. Light is the white/default appearance. The 戦姫サバイバルサガ template adds the colored island artwork and its matching interface colors. The two HTML guides contain the same instructions, with screenshots from their respective theme.

Artwork controlHow to use it
Queue room: LessGives the task list less width and leaves more artwork visible.
Queue room: MoreGives the task list more working room.
Queue room: Full widthUses the available queue width when managing many entries is your priority.
Framing: Show full imageKeeps the complete image visible, with margins where the window shape requires them.
Framing: Fill workspaceFills the available area; image edges can be cropped as the window changes shape.
Control opacityAdjusts the remaining small control fills. It does not mean all large panels return.
BackgroundAdjusts the artwork brightness from 40–160%; it is separate from control opacity.
Artwork onlyTemporarily hides the queue. Show queue or Escape restores it.
Trying a special template? The artwork toolbar appears with illustrated templates. The 戦姫サバイバルサガ edition includes two extra screenshots comparing queue room and the artwork controls.

The survival tutorial’s captures use Show full image, 92% control opacity and 82% background brightness. These are demonstration choices, not requirements. Resize the window and adjust the controls until the queue and illustration are comfortable together. Framing and brightness can be remembered per artwork template.

The baseball template also has its medium-full framing option. Ordinary color themes do not show the artwork control bar. Compact sidebar, Details, list/icon view and thumbnail visibility are independent ways to make more room.

If the queue disappears: check whether Artwork only is active. Restore it using Show queue or Escape before assuming your tasks were deleted.

18. Manage browsing data without losing the wrong thing

Browser tools — data. Fields shown are demonstration values. Click to enlarge

Open Browser tools → Browsing data and select only the categories you intend to clear. Read the checkboxes before using Clear selected browsing data.

CategoryConsequence
Cached images and filesRemoves cached resources. The next visit can reload more data.
Browsing historyRemoves recorded page history.
Site storage and service workersClears stored site state for recorded origins; website preferences or offline state can be affected.
Browser and downloader cookiesSigns sites out and also removes the saved downloader cookie copies.

Saved account passwords remain in Cookies & accounts until you remove them there. A tab session stores URLs, so it does not restore cookies that you deliberately cleared. Clearing browser data also does not mean your downloaded galleries are deleted.

For a page that works elsewhere but fails here

  1. Close and restart FileFapper, then retry the exact URL.
  2. Check whether the site requires a fresh sign-in inside FileFapper.
  3. If you suspect cache, select only cached images/files, clear that selection and restart.
  4. Use the site’s compatibility option where appropriate, then restore helpers after testing.
  5. If direct extraction still differs from browser access, use supported rendered capture or report the site/URL shape and error.

The screenshot comes from an empty demonstration profile. No personal history was opened, cleared or copied to create it.

19. Site profiles and importing a script

Pick the right kind of URL

Reader sites usually need an individual chapter, artwork sites an individual work, and booru sites a post or supported post listing. Hentai Foundry and FapReactor can collect supported picture/post listings through Browser. Pixiv supports artwork and bounded user tasks; Pawchive/Kemono support bounded creator workflows. Civitai’s image/post profile does not mean model/checkpoint downloading is supported.

HentaiDB focuses on comic readers rather than arbitrary external streaming players. Kasei numeric chapter URLs and public-token readers can use different workflows. 大白兔 remains provisional because its HTTPS/reader behavior could not be established during verification. A profile is not a current live-service guarantee.

Add or update a site adapter

  1. Read the site-script guide supplied with the app/source and inspect the example below.
  2. Give the script its own identifier, name and host list. Use the documented manifest format.
  3. Implement resolve(url, context) so it returns a title and a list of accessible media URLs.
  4. Use the provided context request methods for the site’s cookies and request pacing.
  5. Import the reviewed .py file using Import Python script.
  6. Review the manifest and declared domains before trusting it. Enabled imports can override a built-in adapter for an existing host.
  7. Test a small work, compare counts and preview, and retain a known-good script copy.

"""Import this file in D&F > Sites & scripts. Change the domain and selectors."""
from urllib.parse import urljoin
from bs4 import BeautifulSoup

MANIFEST = {
    'api': 1,
    'id': 'my_gallery_site',
    'name': 'My Gallery Site',
    'version': '1.0.0',
    'domains': ['gallery.example.com'],
}

def resolve(url, context):
"""Return one gallery. context.get provides site cookies and request pacing."""
    response = context.get(url)
    doc = BeautifulSoup(response.text, 'html.parser')
    heading = doc.select_one('h1')
    images = []
    for node in doc.select('.gallery-page img'):
        source = node.get('data-original') or node.get('data-src') or node.get('src')
        if source:
            images.append({'url': urljoin(url, source)})
    if not images:
raise ValueError('No gallery pages found. Check the page selectors or your login.')
    return {
'title': heading.get_text(' ', strip=True) if heading else 'My Gallery',
        'metadata': {'site': MANIFEST['name'], 'tags': []},
        'images': images,
    }

# Optional: edit decoded pixels before saving. D&F saves transformed files as PNG.
# def transform(image, image_metadata, context):
# return image

# Optional: override the built-in first-page search for a supported site.
# def search(query, context):
# return [{'title': 'Example gallery', 'url': 'https://gallery.example.com/gallery/1'}]

The example domain and page selectors are placeholders. You must replace them with the intended site and its actual reader structure. A downloader script can be imported without turning a new host into a full built-in Search profile; adding a completely new Search catalog entry requires a source registry change and rebuild.

Scripts are trusted local Python. They run with your Windows account’s normal file/network permissions in a worker process. This is not a sandbox. A script can access its site cookies; import code only after reviewing it.

20. Troubleshoot by symptom

SymptomCheck and next action
No extractor matches the URLCheck the host and path. Use an individual supported chapter/work or a reviewed site script. A root page or incomplete reader path may not identify a downloadable work.
The site returned no imagesConfirm the reader has loaded and is readable. Check cookies, the selected chapter and current adapter. Try supported rendered capture and compare counts.
Only covers or thumbnails were savedYou may have captured a series/search page. Open the actual chapter or full-size post.
HTTP 404Confirm the address still exists and includes required chapter/post identifiers. Importing cookies cannot repair a missing URL.
HTTP 401/403 or repeated verificationUse the site’s normal sign-in/verification flow, refresh cookies for the exact host, then sync and resume. A session can still be rejected by the embedded browser or worker.
HTTP 429/509 or WaitingRead the source cooldown and account limit. Reduce concurrency and let the wait finish. Local retry options do not reset the source’s limits.
SSL or connection errorsRetry after restart and check the same address in another browser. If only FileFapper fails, test cache-only clearing and site compatibility. Do not enter credentials on a connection you cannot verify.
Infinite scroll adds nothingCheck whether another page exists, let native page initialization finish and inspect Scrolling diagnostics. Try Load next page now or the site’s own pagination. Some layouts need a dedicated update.
Later booru results form one columnSet Image columns on added booru pages to the desired value. Site-native loaders can still manage their own layout.
Saved tags become one large tagUse the Saved tags workflow for the correct supported frontend. Restore individual chips; use underscores or quotes within a tag and enter complex grouped expressions on the site.
ppixiv opens incompletelyCheck the plugin status, sign in when required, reload ppixiv, or switch to Original Pixiv view. Viewer startup and account/media access are separate.
An enlarged image looks worseCompare at 100% with Server original. Turn cleanup off or use Original size. Enlargement is not guaranteed detail recovery.
Preview cannot play mediaUse Open file. Chromium’s codec support does not cover every downloadable format.
Tasks disappear from viewClear the text/site/status filters, check list/icon view and leave Artwork only. A hidden view does not by itself mean files were removed.
Reopening shows older tabs/tasksThe app reuses its saved profile. Review restore/resume preferences and the intended session. Close other FileFapper versions before switching.
Typing fails after browsingClick the intended FileFapper text field to return focus. Close duplicate/older instances and confirm the v1.0 build before reporting a repeatable sequence.

What to include in a useful report

Include FileFapper version and architecture, site name, URL shape, exact error, whether it works in the regular browser, the operation you were performing and a short reproduction sequence. Say whether the task used originals, resampled media, rendered capture or enlargement. Remove cookies, tokens, credentials, private URLs and personal details from logs or screenshots before sharing.

21. Shortcuts and final checklists

ShortcutAction / context
Ctrl + EnterAdd URLs from the queue URL field.
Ctrl + ASelect text in a focused text field; select visible queue tasks when no text field has focus.
Ctrl-click / Shift-clickBuild a selection / select a task range.
Ctrl + TOpen a browser tab.
Ctrl + WClose the current browser tab.
Ctrl + LFocus the browser address bar.
Ctrl + TabCycle browser tabs.
Shift + F10 / Menu keyOpen an available context menu.
EscDismiss a dialog/menu, or leave Artwork only when applicable.

Before a large batch

  • Verify the exact reader or listing URL.
  • Confirm the account session and source access.
  • Review quality, destination, workers and delay.
  • Try a small task and compare its output with the source.
  • Bound a collection and review its selected results.
  • Keep an independent session backup and enough disk space.

Before sharing a release or a screenshot

  • Distribute the clean release packages, not your personal profile folder.
  • Keep cookies, passwords, keys and private histories out of shared material.
  • Remember that a session export can include titles, URLs and paths even when it excludes credentials.
  • Keep the application’s license and third-party notices with a redistributed package.

You have reached the end of the guide. Use the chapter search to return to a workflow, switch to the other theme edition, or print this document as a reference. Both editions contain the same instruction set.
